T-SVN Tip: More Short-cuts

In a previous post, I described how to set up a desktop short-cut to open your TortoiseSVN repository browser. There are many other uses of the short-cut.

Here are a few.

Help

For a desktop icon to open the T-SVN help, define a shortcut with the following fields set:

Target:
“C:\Program Files\TortoiseSVN\bin\TortoiseProc.exe” /command:help

Comment:
Documentation about TortoiseSVN

Settings

For a desktop icon to open the T-SVN settings dialog:

Target:
“C:\Program Files\TortoiseSVN\bin\TortoiseProc.exe” /command:settings

Comment:
Open the Settings dialog for TortoiseSVN

Kill!

For a desktop icon to kill the T-SVN cache process (which will restart next timre it’s needed):

Target, for example:
C:\Programs\tortoise\process_kill_tsvn-cache.bat

Comment:
Kill the TortoiseSVN cache process

The batch file <process_kill_tsvn-cache.bat> should read:

taskkill /IM “TSVNCache.exe” /F /T

This is useful if the overlays are incorrect, for example.

Browse Trunk

Target:
“C:\Program Files\TortoiseSVN\bin\TortoiseProc.exe” /command:repobrowser /path:”svn://repos/trunk/project/”

Start in, for example:
D:\wc\project

View (Particular) Difference

For a desktop icon to view the difference between particular branches and/or revisions:

Target, for example:
“C:\Program Files\TortoiseSVN\bin\TortoiseProc.exe” /command:showcompare /ignoreancestry /revision1:1234 /revision2:5678 /url1:”svn://repos/branches/one/” /url2:”svn://repos/branches/two/”
